Knights Caring for Knights (KC4K)

KC4K was launched in spring 2012 to provide students and families a weekend food assistance program if they are eligible for the free/reduced meal programs in the school system. As awareness for the program and participation in it grew, the program became part of the program offerings of the Foundation in 2014.

In 2015, the Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization, became a member agency of the Akron–Canton Regional Foodbank. This valuable resource allows the Foundation to receive free food specifically intended for backpack programs in the eight-county region served by the program. Additional food is available for purchase to supplement what is obtained through the monthly food offerings. Donations to the program help to purchase food from the Foodbank and from local Nordonia-area retailers.

The program operates under the leadership of student leaders, a NHS advisor and Foundation trustees. The weekly operation relies heavily on student and parent volunteers with the assistance of personnel in each school building. Food is stored in the KC4K pantry located in the High School. Food bags are packed every week and distributed directly to the student at their respective school. Any student currently participating or eligible to participate in the free or reduced meal program may participate in this program.

Enrollment is open for the 2025–26 school year. If your family needs assistance for a week or for the entire year, we encourage you to reach out to the school counselor in the student’s building. Questions about the program? Reach out to kc4kprogram@gmail.com or executivedirector@nordoniafoundation.org. If you are a high school student and wish to volunteer, please reach out to Mrs. Kara Putman, HS Advisor, for details.

The Foundation was established in 1995, is a non-profit, tax-exempt organization that It is governed by a volunteer Board of Trustees.
